We pride ourselves on providing our patients with the best possible standard of care; because of this we now perform the Optomap Retinal Exam on all of our patients. This non-invasive procedure allows for a much broader (200°versus 45°) and more detailed view of the retina than is possible with conventional methods. When reviewed, the scan becomes a permanent part of your medical file, which enables our doctors to make important comparisons should potential vision threatening conditions show themselves during a future examination.
Dr. McGrew and his associates strongly believe that the Optomap Retinal Exam is an essential part of your comprehensive eye exam and prescribe it for all patients once per year.
As part of your preliminary testing, we have captured Optomap images for review with the doctor during your examination today. The $39 charge for this procedure is generally not covered by insurance unless the doctor is actively follow disease. Direct any questions you have about the Optomap exam to the doctor when reviewing the images with you.
The benefits of the annual optomap Retinal Exam:
- Fast, easy and comfortable
- A permanent record to compare and track potential eye diseases
- An in depth view of nearly the entire retina
- Education tool for your doctor to discuss your health and wellness
